Ufton Court has had a facelift

Ufton Court is looking beautiful having been repainted in a colour similar to an earlier colour scheme.

Ufton Court has had a face lift

During essential conservation work to the roof and key beams Jane Davies, an architectural paint researcher, carried out a detailed analysis of previous colours of the house and we found the black and white was a fairly recent 20th century addition. Jane found evidence of a much darker colour which, combined with the rough cast render gave a much softer, stone like appearance. Further evidence was found in a painting by Ufton resident Mary Sharpe around 1900 and a small oil painting found at Englefield House dated 1901. All these combined to give us the courage to repaint the house the soft brown you see today with the joinery in ox blood red.  We are delighted with the warm subtle result and hope you will be too. A young visitor gave it the thumbs up recently when she said it reminded her of caramels – perfect!
