Ufton Court is an educational centre for children and young people. It is run by the Ufton Court Educational Trust, a registered charity established in 2006, which aims to provide an inspirational historical home offering innovative and challenging experiences to young people.

Over 6000 young people visit Ufton Court each year and take part in a wide range of activities. Those studying history have a unique opportunity to live in an Elizabethan House as if it were their own, to explore and discover the house’s secrets and to experience firsthand sixteenth century life.
About Ufton Court
Girls in the woods

Environmental activities encourage children to explore and experience the grounds and woodlands. The hands on, exciting activities bring children into close contact with the natural world and develop a deeper understanding and appreciation of the countryside.

The house also welcomes many drama and music groups as well as running programmes specifically for economically and socially disadvantaged children.

"I cannot express what a fantastic experience it has been for the groups of children we have brought to Ufton Court. It had everything we wanted: history, spirituality, a sense of the world and its beauty."

“I thought history was the boringest thing, now I want to know more and more.”

I think Ufton Court's a really special place, it made future lessons more interesting, because I felt like I had lived in the past and experienced it, so history had a greater relevance and even a kind of magic.
Now, I love history and I always think of it from the perspective I gained at Ufton Court. I remember it felt like the house belonged to us completely for that one weekend.

The Future:

We are constantly improving and developing the courses and facilities available for children. Current projects include;

  • Development of holiday programmes for disadvantaged and inner city children
  • Creating a living Tudor Farm
  • Restoring the medieval fishponds for environmental and historical activities
  • Extending the opportunities for environmental learning
  • Improving the internal and external decoration of the house – a never ending project!

Would you like to get involved in any of the above? We need you!

Volunteers are a vital part of life at Ufton Court and there are opportunities to get involved in many different ways from conservation projects to gardening to decorating as well as helping with our holiday programmes.

If you can spare any time you would be very welcome and could make a real difference to our work at Ufton.
